Privacy Matters:
Consider before you choose whether you prefer complete privacy 100% of the time, or a moderate degree to maximize light. Perhaps your wish is to block a less than desirable view from a window. Shades And Flooring Window Treatments has excellent choices in all respects, plus many Top Down Bottom Up upgrades for shades that allow you to have your privacy and your sunshine, too. View Preservation: Great view? Don't block it, frame it. Select a window treatment that opens up the outside world while still serving your other needs. As a rule, wider louvers or slats on blinds or shutters will offer more "view space" when opened. The top down/bottom up options for shades and horizontal blinds also provide a means for looking out while preserving privacy. Energy Efficiency: An insulating window covering is like an investment. It can pay for itself in the long run. Since experts claim we can lose up to 40% of energy through the glass panes, keeping a heating bill down in the winter and holding the cool air in during the summer is a big factor. Cells in Honeycomb Shades do this marvelously. Shutters and Vertical Blinds are also tops. Roman Shades, Faux Wood Blinds and Wood Blinds can be counted on to insulate well, too. Light Control: There are occasions when you wish to protect yourselves and your fine furnishings from the damaging UV rays of the sun. Western and Southern exposures are most vulnerable. Horizontal Sheer Shades are just one good choice when you want to bask in the sunshine without the harmful effects. On the other hand, there may be rooms where you wish to cut the light, or block it entirely for daytime sleepers or media room viewing. Many Shades And Flooring Window Treatments Blinds shades and treatment are available with Room Dimming to Room Darkening features as an upgrade or an option. I appreciate your tip on looking at view preservation when choosing blinds. It seems that if you spend more money on a house with a view you would want to frame it not hide it. My wife and I are doing a remodel and when we get to the blinds we'll be sure to find some that accentuate the natural features of our home.

My wife is thinking about changing up our living room, and wanted to start with the blinds. It makes a lot of sense that you would want to go with something that would give you privacy, while still looking modern. Since our living room faces the street, it would be nice to cover that up.

I just bought a new house and my wife wants to pick the right kind of shades for the different rooms. I didn't realize that the right kind of shades can help lower the utility bill, I can see why finding a good set of blinds can keep a room from losing or gaining heat. I will keep this in mind as I look for the best shades.

I had no idea that blinds could do so much to insulate from the warm or cold. I've heard the vertical blinds are less effective at insulating than horizontal blinds because they're generally thinner, but I suppose there might be different types of vertical blinds that are thicker. Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to keep them in mind the next time I need to pick blinds.

I've been wanting to get some wooden blinds for our home for a while now, and I think that being bale to make sure that we're getting what we need would be really helpful. I'm glad you mentioned that privacy matters when you're choosing your blinds, and how you need to decide if you want 100% privacy or to allow light in. I'm going to have to talk to my wife about what she wants from our wooden blinds, and make sure we get the right ones!

I really like that the first thing the article brings up is choosing blinds based on how much privacy they give you. After all, one of the main reasons people buy blinds is to keep other people from seeing into their homes. If this is why you want to buy blinds then you really should try to get ones that provide the best amount of privacy possible.
